Question about ammo in battlepacks

Is it vacuum sealed? Thanks.

Re: Question about ammo in battlepacks

NOPE, But it's a good overall package to keep and transport ammo.

Battlepacks may be somewhat water resistant perhaps...

But for effective ammo storage (and many other uses) buy several of these:

It should be air tight. I store mine in ammo cans.
kept cool and dry it should be usable for a long time.
Do not want them vacuum packed. Might have a tendancy to pull air out of the loaded cartridge which would inhibit ignition of the powder.
Does any one know if modern nitro-cellulose propellant self oxidizing?

Airtight, but not vacuum sealed. It's still a good idea to keep the battlepacks in ammo cans (or at least check them from time to time), though. Bugs can and will eat through the plastic. I've never had it happen in my storage, but I ordered some .223 once that came with the plastic all full of little bug-nibble holes (knew it was bugs, as they'd also chewed up the cardboard boxes the battle packs were packed in).

Battlepacks are designed to be air tight. Some coming (especially from south africa) have had bugs eat thru them so check them carefully.

I did a submersion test on one of my .223 SA BP's back in 2000, 48 hours under a foot of water and no leaks.

I keep my airtight BP's in the original cases they came in (some plastic some metal, those cases are not air tight) Everything else goes into ammo cans. Some with some without O2 absorbers. I figure that the slight amount of air in there won't matter. I'm using 1940's production 8mm ammo that has been open to air since the 40's and shipped by boat over here... all of it still goes bang and loss of accuracy and power seems negligible if any. If 70+ years has little effect than being in a air tight ammo can w/o O2 absorbers shouldn't phase it a bit, lol.

Thanks for the info. The stuff I picked up is all 07 production from Bosnia.
